I've been busy making gifts over the past few weeks. I absolutely love giving handmade gifts...although I have to admit that I only give them to people that I know will truly appreciate them.
I made a Catherine scarf for my lovely mum for Mother's Day. I just love this pattern from issue 34 of Inside Crochet magazine. It's a really simple pattern but works up into such a pretty scarf. My mum was really happy with her new scarf and as its still pretty chilly here, she should get quite a lot of wear out of it over the next month or two.
I have been making more hot water bottle cosies...one as a birthday present for my sister-in-law and another as a gift for a workmate. I based my pattern on one from the beautiful Coco Rose Diaries blog. They are a quick make and always seem to be pretty well received.
Lastly, I finished off a cross stitch picture for my gorgeous baby nephew. I've had it framed and it's now all ready to be hung in his room. I really must make time to do more cross stitch - crochet always seems to win when I have any free time for crafting - because I really do enjoy it.
So now it's time to make things to keep! I have a blanket on the go for my little Miss as well as a cushion cover for the living room. Only 2 projects on the go isn't much for me at all! But...I have about a million ideas for other projects in my head, I just need someone to give me more hours in the day so I can make them all!
Wishing you all a lovely week.

Such beautiful handmade presents! No doubt they were all happily received and will be cherished and enjoyed by all the recipients.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Wednesday afternoon! X
Well, the recipient's of those gifts are very lucky - they are all lovely, especially the delicate scarf.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a pretty scarf, so delicate looking, you've been very busy. You're right, there's something about tapestry that's very soothing, perhaps I should search out my unfinished stuff! x
ReplyDeleteLovely gifts Marianne. You are wise to only make your gorgeous presents for people you know will appreciate it. I made the mistake once to make a baby blanket for my nephew. It was never seen again :-(
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week, it is all blue skies and smiles in Glasgow just now.
I love making presents too. The cross stitch looks amazing. Jo x

Your gifts are beautiful, Marianne. I'm so glad you have people in your life who will appreciate them. I only have a few of those, so I try to make things for them. It does feel good to know they're appreciated. I hope you have been doing well.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful gifts, I don't think you can beat a gift made with love. The recipients are very lucky, your gifts are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSome lovely makes. It is such a shame when some people just don't appreciate handmade gifts.

ReplyDeleteYour family and friends are very lucky, your gifts are gorgeous. I know what you mean about crochet always winning out, but it's just so addictive and relaxing. Have a good week. Xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gifts, beautifully made too.I too only give handmade gifts to people who get it,some really don't which is their loss hee hee.I used to do loads of cross stitch,it can be addictive, but crochet has won now,I Love it.Happy Crafting.x
ReplyDeleteHandmade gifts are the best! I can understand how you give them to people who will appreciate them though. I do the same... Some people I gave gifts to just put them away into a shelf and that hurt...
ReplyDeleteTake care
