I just couldn't resist...

...spending some time making these little angels, even though I have around a hundred and one other things I should be doing! Inspiration from here...

I plan to take a little break from blogging during the festivities, so this will be my last post of 2013! What a quick year it has been! I have very much enjoyed being part of the blogging community and have been inspired so much by other crafters and bloggers. Thank you so much to everyone who visits me here and thank you also for all the lovely comments left throughout the year. I am really excited to see what next year will bring...I have lots of things that I plan to do and make!

Anyway, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year. See you in 2014!

Festive Baking

I do so enjoy a bit of baking at this time of year! Miss M and I enjoyed making a simple sponge cake and mince pies at the weekend and today I made white chocolate peppermint fudge as gifts for a couple of friends I am meeting with on Wednesday evening. Later on this week, I will be heading to my mums where she is going to show me how to make tablet as gifts for my work colleagues. I can't wait, my mums tablet is amazing and I am really looking forward to spending the morning baking and making with her!

Have you been doing any festive baking?

Souvenirs from Berlin

The Christmas markets we visited in Berlin had so many beautiful tree decorations it really was difficult to chose which ones to buy. After much consideration, Miss M and I chose the ones above. The tiny toadstool in the top photo is my favourite, Miss M loves the little dog best and G claims to like them all!

The pretty mug and necklace above were gifts to myself! The minute I saw the cup, I loved it and I have been using it for almost every hot drink I have had since I got it. I love my new necklace too, it's a bit different from anything else I have. G bought the handmade rosebud soap for me, it smells lovely but is so pretty I don't know if I can bear to use it!

G has taken Miss M to her swimming lesson this morning and when they return we plan to have a lovely family day. We are going to decorate the Christmas tree (I can't wait to hang our new ornaments!), enjoy a roast together at lunch, watch a Christmas movie (maybe Polar Express, we haven't quite decided...) and wrap a few gifts. Tommorrow, Miss M and I plan to do some making and baking and then we have my parents and my gran coming over for tea...

Thank you for all the lovely comments recently and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Bloomin' Crochet-A-Long Week 11

Week 11! I'm sorry that I missed week 10...I just had so much to do before we went on our little break to Berlin.

Anyway, I am continuing with my Christmas crochet makes and have finished this little bag for my four year old niece...

Hopefully she will like it! I see from my photos that I should really have blocked this little bag! I haven't wrapped it yet so there is still time to do so. I just made this up as I went along really, the flowers are from Crochet with Flowers, but for the rest I just 'winged it'. The yarn used was a mixture of DK cottons from my stash. I am pretty happy with how it turned out!

More crochet here...

Berlin in December

We got back this afternoon after spending 4 days in Berlin. We had such a fantastic time! We really went because we wanted to go to the Christmas markets...G and I have wanted to do this for such a long time, and we weren't disappointed.

The markets were truly magical - there was so much to see, gorgeous treats to eat and of course so many pretty things to buy. Everywhere you looked, gluhwein was being sold and G certainly enjoyed a few of those! I have to say, it really wasn't for me and I much preferred drinking the apple tea on offer. It was very cold and even snowed, so hot drinks were certainly needed to keep the chill away. Miss M and I also really enjoyed eating potato fritters with apple sauce and hot waffles with Nutella! There were also lots of merry-go-rounds and old fashioned carousels...Miss M had a great time going on those. We all went on the giant Ferris wheel you can see in the pictures and it was lovely to get such a great view of the city from way up high.

As well as visiting the Christmas markets we did quite a bit of sightseeing, taking in the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and the Holocaust Memorial. We also went to the Musuem for Natural History with the main purpose of seeing the dinosaur exhibits (Miss M is a huge dinosaur fan!) and Legoland which was great too.

We bought a few little souvenirs which I will show soon when I get a chance to take some photos of them.

We are all pretty tired this evening, in fact Miss M is already fast asleep in bed, so I am planning a relaxing evening catching up with some blog reading and some crochet! Its great to be away, but I also love coming home to my cosy little house!

December so far...

Taking time out from making Christmas presents to crochet some little trees from Chrissie's fantastic pattern...

Although we won't put up the Christmas tree until next weekend, a few little festive items have found their way into certain corners of the house...

Miss M adores her advent calendar and she can hardly believe her luck that she is allowed to have chocolate before breakfast on these December mornings...

I have given in and had my first (of many, I suspect) mince pie of the season...

I received my Christmas decoration swap parcel in the post this weekend! I have loved taking part in this swap, it has been a lot of fun. My partner was lovely Penny from the beautiful blog L is for Love. I received three of the most gorgeous little crocheted stockings with a chocolate santa inside each one. They are so beautifully made and I adore the little vintage style badges on each. Thank you so much Penny, they are perfect and will have pride of place on our Christmas tree this year...

So, I am starting to feel quite festive! I am now going to spend a little more time on some Christmas makes before I have to collect my sweet Miss M from gymnastics. Happy Tuesday everyone!
