The Weekend

We have had some mixed weather here this weekend - Saturday was bright and sunny during the day and then we had rain all night. On Sunday morning we had sunshine again but by lunchtime the rain had started and has continued since. G and I were both off today and yesterday, which was nice...it is not very often that neither one of us are working at some point in the weekend. So, we made the most of it....

On Saturday afternoon we spent some time at a lovely local park. I couldn't believe how many crocuses there were! Just beautiful. The park happens to have a really lovely tea room in the grounds and we stopped in for hot drinks and slices of cake. I had tea (of course) and a rather large slice of Victoria Sponge...

G left early this morning to spend the day down in the Lake District mountain biking, so Miss M and I had a very relaxed morning. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and spent time reading, drawing and crocheting whilst still in our pyjamas...

There was also time for some cooking - roast chicken with creme fraiche and herbs (a Lisa Faulkner recipe which I highly recommend, it's delicious) and some simple fairy cakes...

My Miss M is now tucked up in bed and I have just poured myself a glass of wine. I plan to catch up on last weeks Great British Sewing Bee and to continue with the daisy blanket whilst I wait for G to come home...

Hope you have all had a good weekend too?

X

  8. Yes thanks. Dear Husband asked me to find his qualifications certificates and thought they would be in the attic so I spent Sunday there. I had a good clear out and a good think about what to do. Solitude for me now is a precious state. But a slice of Victoria sponge might have got me down!

  18. Oh how I love to be transported to your world thru you very lovely photos. I could of Rested Awhile and Gazed out upon those glorious crocuses for ever. I love those wee flowers. I have never eaten a "Victoria Sponge" but I have seen them talked about many times on BBC movies. LOL They do look yummie to eat. Your crochet magazine interest me. I absolutely Loved the pink frilly edging on the crochet blanket. Can I ask you what magazine that was in??? I hope you DH had a lovely day biking in the Lake District. Have a lovely week. Hugs Judy

    1. Thank you for your lovely comments! It is actually a crochet book on the table...it is Cute & Easy Crochet with Flowers by Nicki Trench and I agree, the throw with the loopy edging is stunning. It's a gorgeous crochet book and I really recommend it.

  27. What a beautiful place to go for a walk and I love your photos of the crocuses. I sat in meditation just the other day visualising that my body was growing roots into the ground so I could ground the mind and boy and that tree is just what I visualised, beautiful!! It seems like you made the very best of a girlie day with your girl and that chicken looks and sounds delicious. Your blanket is coming along lovely, can't wait to see a little more. Very pretty pictures xoxo
