My sweet Miss M had her birthday on Wednesday...being one of the last in her class to turn 8 she was really looking forward to it. I made her the rainbow cake as requested! It took me almost the whole day whilst she was at school on Wednesday to make it! But it was so worth it as she was absolutely delighted with it. The recipe came from Fabulous Family Food by Nadia Sawalha (my new favourite cookery book!) and is called Pastel Layer Cake...
I have been enjoying a bunch of gorgeous and fragrant hyacinths in my living room this week too. I love hyacinths so much...
Miss M and I have been writing our thank you cards for our Christmas presents this week...
Yes... I have started another blanket! It is the Camellia Blanket from Cute & Easy Crochet by Nicki Trench. I'm only using 3 colours and the squares are working up more quickly than I thought. I'm also being very disciplined and sewing in the ends as I finish each square! I'm really enjoying making this...what can I say, I just can't get enough of blanket making!
Hope you have all had some lovely moments in your week too.

I thought that was the sort of cake you were going to make. Lots of washing up? It does look worth it though. Nice roses. Jo x

That cake looks amazing - can I ask which colouring you used? L and I made her friend a rainbow cake a few years ago, but the colours seemed to practically disappear when it was cooked. I can't wait to see your finished blanket; I've had my eye on that pattern for a while. Wishing you a fun-filled week. x

ReplyDeleteThat cake looked amazing and so delicious, not to mention the beautiful blanket happening! I think it is so wonderful you are writing thank you's, a great lesson to teach your daughter, so many don't do this type of gratitude thanking.
Hope this week is as happy, xoRobin
Great looking cake and I'm sure it was delicious. The blanket looks gorgeous. I have the book so maybe I'll give it a go - when I've finished the blankets I'm working on already!

Beautiful photos! The cake looks like it took all day to complete. But it is always worth it when they are happy! We used to receive thank you cards for our nieces and nephews after they received a gift. Now we get a thank you text (?!) Not really the same thing. Im glad that you are teaching her the art of letter writing. It is so much more personal.
