...crochet hooks of course. Here is a selection of mine. They are basic hooks, which were inexpensive but I find them absolutely fine to work with. I tend to use a 4mm crochet hook most often for my projects and the red one is my favourite. I had lost it for ages and I was so happy when it was found down the side of one of the armchairs in the living room whilst I was doing the Hogmanay clean last year!
...scissors. Essential for snipping those yarn ends. I love these scissors and their pretty case, they were a gift from my lovely mum and dad and I use them all the time.
...measuring tapes. I think I have a measuring tape in almost every room in the house but can never seem to find one when I need one! (I think I need to work on storing my crochet things more carefully). I use these a lot, mainly to check if the latest blanket I'm making is big enough. Again, these were a gift from my parents...they are very good at choosing exactly what I like!
...a yarn sewing needle. So important! I only have one of these and I keep it safely stored in my little apple pin cushion.
...lots of large headed pins. Really important for blocking projects. These pins are really pretty which pleases me too.
...and last but definitely not least - a nice cup of tea! Tea really is essential when crocheting I think!
What about you? What are your crochet essentials? Is there anything that I need to add to my 'must haves'?
X
You're very organised! I have been known to bite through a string of yarn if I can't find my scissors (not expensive yarn though).
ReplyDeleteI only have one yarn needle as well! I lose it every other day and spend a lot of time looking for it :)
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your tools, Marianne. I would agree with all of them, they'd be my essentials as well. Especially the TEA! :)
ReplyDeleteMy crochet essential is a book that I bought when I started to crochet. It has very clear instructions and diagrams and I often refer to it especially if I haven't crocheted for a while.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree! I use my crochet books a lot if I'm stuck on a pattern or can't remember how to do a certain stitch.

Definitely the tea! Also, access to the internet for when I go wrong!
ReplyDeleteYes the Internet is also essential for me when I go wrong!

My crochet essentials are all over the place, I have at least 4 pairs of scissors and 4 darning needles in circulation, and a good few measuring tapes too. Can I ever find the thing I want though ? Of course I can't lol
ReplyDeleteJillxo
Such pretty things, I really liked the house pin cushion xx
ReplyDeleteThey're all my crochet essentials too. I have three baskets of various sizes where I keep the things I need for my latest projects but even then there's always something that I can't find : ) One of those frequently missing things are my measuring tapes. And it's usually the girls who are to blame for this! X
ReplyDeleteYes, actually my daughter is quite often to blame for when my things go missing!
DeleteMarianne x
I don't have anything to add to that really :-)...
ReplyDeleteMaybe some nice music or a television program in the background?
Love all your pretty hooky essentials!
Mirjam xx
I keep all mine in a small make up bag at the side of my chair. I had them in a tin, but it was too big and held too much, so I downsized!
ReplyDeleteI think you just about covered all the essentials :) Especially the cup of tea, so very crucial to a good crochet moment. I never can find what I need so maybe I need to store my crochet essentials better too. The sofa is my first go to place of I lost a hook :)
ReplyDeleteBirgitta xx
snap - I keep all of my hooks, scissors etc in a washbag so they hopefully don't get lost! I use cheap hooks too and have no issues with them! x
ReplyDeleteA good list of crochet moment essentials, Marianne! Agree with Marion as above, it's my tape measure that goes AWOL most often and usually because Little Miss has decided it makes a good skipping rope! xx
ReplyDeleteLike you I'm forever l losing my tape measure and the yarn needle, I've set up a little box now in my project basket in a attempt to reduce the time I spend trying to find things xx
ReplyDeleteSimilar essentials for me too! I adored my CK scissors but the other day I got them confiscated at the security control at the airport and I was gutted..... They are just brilliant and I think I am going to have to get a new pair very soon....
ReplyDeleteOh Pati I would be so upset if that happened to me! Yes, you must treat yourself to a new pair!

Likewise I think - hook, yarn, scissors, yarn needle, tea. I've got two tape measures, neither of which I can ever find when I need them :o) Jxx
ReplyDeleteAll of those are definitely essentials, especially the cup of tea and your favourite crochet hook!! I keep most of my things in a tin in my basket, I hate it when I cannot find them! xx
ReplyDeleteI find tea essential for all activities, not just crafting moments. And party ring biscuits, now you're talking! X
ReplyDeletehee hee, this post made me smile.I had mislaid my scissors AGAIN,and can never find a tape measure either. You have inspired me to put all my crochet essentials in ONE PLACE ie plastic storage box and label it,THANK YOU.I might just add a small note book and pencil but apart from that you have covered everything.Love your mug and biscuits yum yum,I am a tea addict, can't function without me cuppa and a biccy.Hugs xx
ReplyDeletePerfection in pictures. Jo x
ReplyDeletebeautiful essentials and at the same a lovely collection of crafty treasures. we, crafters, all have our precious equipment we cant go without. isnt it amazing how closely we get attached to certain things. i keep lots of my knitting / stitching / crocheting tools in my wooden sewing box - its like a treasure chest to me. just love looking into it and checking if my stuff is still there ;)
ReplyDeleteas for crochet / knitting tools I love KnitPro products. totally addicted to them!
