I've been enjoying crocheting with some lovely cosy, chunky yarn recently. I think as the weather turns cooler it definitely makes you want to make cosy things doesn't it?
I made a little heart cushion for Miss M in gorgeous Drops Andes yarn. It's really soft and cuddly and she just loves it. I found the pattern for the heart cushion in a blog called Mon Makes Things (sorry I'm unable to provide a link, I can't seem to do links when blogging from my phone). It's a great pattern and the cushion is fun to make. I sort of want one for myself now!
I'm planning to make a chunky scarf or cowl for myself and have started a few different patterns but have pulled them all back, I just can't seem to find one that is right. Maybe at the weekend I'll have time to have more of a play...I hope so as it's getting chilly in the mornings and I really need a new cosy scarf or cowl to wear on the way to work!
I've stocked up on some super chunky Stylecraft Weekender as I'm planning to make some hot water bottle cosies as Christmas gifts again this year. Last year I used a pattern from Cocorose Diaries (link to her gorgeous blog is in my side bar) and I plan to use the same pattern again as I was so pleased with how they turned out last time. They are so enjoyable to make and seem to be well received as gifts too.
Thank you for the lovely comments on my colourful granny squares blanket...that blanket is certainly getting a lot of use and actually Miss M appears to have claimed it as her own! Of course I have another couple of blankets on the go...more on those soon...and I'm enjoying planning some handmade Christmas presents.
What projects are you enjoying at the moment and have you started any Chritmas crafting yet?!
X
I started a Christmas gift last night - a berry shawl from Moogly. It is growing fast. Will need a good block though. Jo x
ReplyDeleteI have been working on gifts for a month or so. Quick easy makes, ski bands, hats and a couple of shawls. I love the idea of a water bottle cover that would make a great gift. The heart cushion is gorgeous, I know 2 little girls who would like that.
ReplyDeleteI've started crocheting cosy projects too and plan to make a cowl soon but haven't started Christmas crochet yet. Miss M must love her heart cushion. Hx
ReplyDeleteI've stopped working on my blankets to get my Christmas makes finished. Your cushion looks good & I really want some of that yarn now! x
ReplyDeleteI've been working on some small Christmas gifts now and then, but not in a hurry yet. Ask me again in few weeks. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous heart cushion! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for popping by my blog. What beautiful projects!! I love granny square blankets, though I have never made one myself. I have some that I treasure from various family members. I haven't started Christmas anything yet. I am in denial that it is coming!!
ReplyDeleteThe heart cushion is lovely, as is that wonderful blankie - no wonder your daughter claimed it! xx
ReplyDeleteI'd like to get of those Drops Andes yarn too. They look so soft and squishy, I'm not surprised that Miss M loves her heart cushion. I'm a bit too busy with home stuff at the moment but I like to pick up my blanket and work on it while watching tv in the evenings. X
ReplyDeleteHello Marianne,
ReplyDeleteChunky yarn is definitely a must for this time of year isn't it! The Drops Andes is a gorgeous one, and I am desperate to make something with it. Too many ideas and so little time! I have made a few of those chunky seashell scarves, and I actually think it's one of the best scarf patterns around. I'm currently working on a new scarf, and I just keep changing my mind mid way through. So far, I have started on three. I guess I should just cut my losses and make another seashell one! ha ha!
Have a beautiful day

p.s. Love your granny blanket in the previous post. GORGEOUS x
Chunky yarn is so much fun to play with. Have fun!

Lovely heart cushion! Great idea to use chunky yarn for it.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! You are well organised with your Christmas crafting. I haven't made anything for anyone yet, but I do have plum brandy maturing in the cupboard and will make foods gifts in November and December x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely heart. I like working with chunky yarn too - I've just finished a lap blanket done in chunky and it feels lovely and squishy. I have so many other projects on the go! I'll make a few Christmas presents too.
ReplyDeleteLOVELY POST but when are you posting again so miss your weekly chatxx
