Three Good Things

1.... a gorgeous vintage teacup, saucer and side plate which I received as a very kind gift on Friday. I just love this little set and it fits in nicely with the rest of my (little) collection...

2... a new crochet project. Inspired by some beautiful daisy blankets I have seen on Pinterest, I have started a new blanket. I am enjoying making these simple but pretty squares so much and all other WIPS have been set aside in favour of this project....

3... an hour to myself in my busy week to enjoy a cuppa, a slice of lemon drizzle cake and a little reading. I finished reading Wonder and I honestly cannot recommend it enough, it was fantastic. A few of my workmates and I have started a little book club. We plan to read a book a month and to meet up to chat about it, probably over tea and cake with maybe the occasional glass of wine! I am really excited about it! I have wanted to join a book group for a long time, I think it will motivate me to read more and maybe also to try books that I wouldn't normally chose. Our first read is The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty...

Happy moments in a very busy week!

X

  1. Some lovely happies, the daisie blanket is gorgeous, it's given me a serious case of the wanties, no wonder everything else has been put on hold. Must resist adding anything else to the makes list. ;0)

  3. Hello Marianne
I love your daisy blanket, its so beautifully colourful. I was having a really close look at your photo's to see how you did your daisies. I made a daisy blanket last year, and I think your petals may be worked differently - I'm quite intrigued ! Here's the link to my blanket http://justpootling.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/daisy-blanket.html
I think your petals are worked a little differently aren't they ?

    1. Hi Kate and thank you for your lovely comments! I had a look at your daisy blanket...it is just beautiful. Our squares do look a little different, yes. My daisy is from Nicki Trench Cute & Easy Crochet with flowers. I used the pattern for the daisy only from the daisy scarf. I then just added treble clusters into each petal space...the corners are 3 treble, chain 3 then 3 treble. I made 3 rounds. Hope this helps?! It's not the best explanation ever!

  10. The daisy squares are so fresh and pretty looking I can imagine why you are concentrating on them.

It is funny how many bloggers have secretly wanted to join book groups. I've joined up with the Circle of Pines one as the flexibility is important to me but it is nice to be part of the virtual group. Hope you enjoy yours and possibly post your review of your book on your blog too(?) as I'm always keen to hear others opinions of their latest read.

  18. Hi Marianne, it is definitely worth a look for a crafter as they have a small but interesting selection. I was surprised as that stretch of Argyle Street at Finnieston tends to be somewhere I drive past on the way to somewhere else but it really looks like it is developing a character of its own. I'm also planning another little totter there too as to look at some more of it.

  19. Love those daisies in your granny squares, can't wait to see it finished! I have been in a book group for over 10 years now and although I haven't loved everything I've read, it has lead me to read some books that I would never have picked up and they are now some of my favourites. Julie x
