Weekend Moments

Another weekend nearly over! This weekend it was mainly just me and Miss M as G was working...we are quite used to this though as G and I often work opposite shifts! There were swimming lessons and a play date but the rest of the time we just pleased ourselves really...

....we have quite a lot of bluebells growing in the garden. Miss M picked me a small bunch and I arranged them around the house. I love this teeny little jug of them by my bed...

...we enjoyed pancakes and fruit for breakfast this morning. I love making the effort to prepare a nice breakfast when I'm not working at the weekend...

....if Miss M and I have some free time together, she nearly always asks if we can bake something. Today we made a batch of simple fairy cakes. We enjoyed a couple with a hot cup of tea this afternoon...

....I have been making these little heart brooches with scraps of linen and floral fabrics. They are a pleasure to make and I enjoy wearing them too. I am planning to make the dress above for Miss M to wear in the summer. The pattern is from the May issue of Mollie Makes. It seems quite simple but we shall see...

...Miss M also asked to do some sewing this weekend which made me so happy. She actually needed very little help to make the wee cat softie above, even drawing her own pattern and cutting it out, and choosing the felt, fabrics and threads. The only thing I had to do was thread the needle for her a few times. The rest was all her own work. Proud mummy...

We had a quiet, ordinary weekend but it was actually quite lovely all the same!

Love the heart broaches, how do you keep the edges of the linen so neat?

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment! I iron bondaweb onto the linen first which stops the edges from fraying.

  6. She is doing really well, I love kids crafting and I am really enjoying standing back now and letting it happen in her own way, so exciting. Go for it with the dress, my friend wished she had made her girls more stuff when they were younger because when they were older it was harder to pick things. Jo x

  12. Oh I wouldn't call that an ordinary weekend lovely Marianne - that was so very special - Mum and Daughter doing lovely crafty things together and enjoying each others company, what could be better! I love your little hearts, and Miss M did a lovely job with the wee cat - well done M! Your bluebells look lovely sitting on that gorgeous mandala too! I'll look forward to seeing some little dresses coming up soon for I'm sure the first will be a huge success and you will be hooked again, haha!! Have a happy week, love, Joy xo

  13. What a great weekend you had. My Sunday was very similar with my oldest. She is learning to crochet and we had a nice time crocheting and watching our show together. Slow, nice and easy weekends are the best in my book.

Love you photos and what a natural you girl is at sewing.

  14. Maybe you did ordinary things, but they were made special in doing them together. Love the bluebells, and I think I would like to wake up to some pretty flowers beside my bed too! The baking together sounds like fun ... my son is my baking companion (he's 15). I just LOVE the little stuffed cat!! What a great job your M did there!! How wonderful that she made it up right from scratch too. The embroidery is so good & I love that tiny bell around his neck ;) Enjoy your week ahead! Wendy x

  15. Nothing makes my heart sing quite like baking and crafting with my girls. Holidays, birthdays, all the 'big moments' in life are so memorable and wonderful, but the quiet moments, making and just *being together* are what make me feel the deepest joy. I love this post, it is full of happiness! Cxxx

  18. What a wonderful weekend! Miss M's cat is beautiful, I assumed when I first saw the picture that it was a follow on from your brooch making - which are lovely btw! - and to realise that Miss M made it is even better. I hope that she was pleased with it as it is very cute! I hope that you have just as a good a week. xx
