This and that

I've really been enjoying making a pot of tea in the afternoons and taking the time to have a couple of cups of tea. I've also decided that I really want to make another couple of tea cosies...despite G protesting that there's really no need!

Miss M and I are looking forward to The Great British Bake Off starting again this week!  We both enjoy it so much and love watching it together. This year, we have set ourselves a little challenge to try to bake something new each week. Our own little Bake Off challenge!

I finally bought a hydrangea to plant in the garden. I've wanted one for ages and kept meaning to get one each year so I'm glad I've eventually done it. G has planted it for me and I'm hoping that as long as I only admire it and not touch it (I have a bad track record with plants of any kind!) it should do okay in the garden.

Do you like my tiny little house ornament? My mum and Miss M gave it to me as a little gift and it's so cute, I really love it.

As usual, there is some crochet on the go here. I bought some new yarn for my Island blanket which I started on holiday and will talk more about another time. I'm using Stylecraft Life DK in mint again...I'm obsessed with this colour at the moment. I also have another Sugar & Spice cardigan on my hook at the moment, this time for my 3 year old niece. This will be the 4th time I've used this pattern! Needless to say, I love it. I also have a little baby dress in the softest pink on the go for my friends wee girl. I'm really hoping this works out as if it does I can see me making more of them as gifts.

So...quite a long post from me for a change! Thank you so much for the lovely comments on my melon-mint bag I appreciate them so much :-)

Wishing you all a lovely week!

X

  1. We're looking forward to the new Bake Off series too. Your baking challenge is a great idea. We might try it too..As always you use the prettiest colours in all your crochet projects. The mint with the cream and coral is a gorgeous combination. I love it! X

  2. Already set to record for Wednesday! I love the idea of a baking challenge but, as I'm trying to lose a bit of weight at the moment, I'm not sure it's a good idea! I bought my first hydrangea this year too - after a rather dodgy start, it's now growing well (probably all the rain!) but I think I may need to replant it where it will have a bit more room. Love the tea cosy; gorgeous colours. xx

  3. It's so nice to see what you've been up to, Marianne. The baking challenge is a great idea. I can't wait to see if they'll be showing the bake-off on TV here like they did this past winter. We had to wait until January but it was well worth it. I loved making the cardigan too and I'm going to blog about it soon. I can't wait to see your others.

  4. Lovely photos, all very pretty. I hadn't realised Bake Off started so soon, my daughter and I really enjoyed watching it last year though we were in catch-up mode for most of it. Will try harder this year...

  5. What a sweet gift from your Mum and daughter. I love giving crocheted gifts, though I haven't tried that pattern yet I'd like to make it for a friend's little girl once she grows a little. Hx

  7. Another GBBO fan here, it seems a little earlier this year or is that just my imagination?

  8. I love baking too. The bakeoffs on TV here aren't much fun though. Perhaps I can catch the British Version on Youtube. Fingers crossed!

    Take care

  9. Lovely photos and I love your tea cosy. I have teapots but we always end up with a tea bag in a mug here - more refinement needed I think! We watched Bakeoff last night and decided we're going to tackle a Madeira cake this week - not sure we'll be up to the standard of the Bakeoff bakers though! Enjoy the rest of the week. Jane xx

  11. Some tea in the afternoon sounds so lovely. I do that a lot in the Winter, it is so warming even though I live in an area where it is usually always warm. I love your bag from your last post, just perfect.

  12. Always lovely to see what you're up to and what you're working on. I was also very excited indeed when GBBO started and wish my daughter would watch it with me, but she doesn't like it! How can that possible be? x
