Recommendations needed...

...for a crochet garment for myself!

Recently I've been thinking that I would really love to crochet something to wear. Not a scarf or wrist warmers or anything like that, but a cardigan or top.

The thing is...it has to be a simple pattern with minimal sewing up if possible as I tend to find that my sewing up of an item lets me down. I also have around 300g of the pretty pink 4ply yarn you can see in the photo above so it would be great if I could use this up, but that's not absolutely essential.

Has anyone ever made such a garment?! Does such a pattern exist?! If it is does I would be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

  1. Hmmm...I don't have specific patterns in mind but are on Ravelry? You could make a loosely-crocheted tunic to wear over leggings or tights...a long vest....a shrug?

  3. Alia from the Little Bee is currently crocheting a lovely crochet top in almost the same color! Perhaps that pattern will work for you too?

  6. If I was the right shape for it (must start that diet soon ... :-/ ) I'd do a top down cardigan, there was one by greendragonfly (I think) that I always stumble upon on Pinterest

  7. There's a simple crochet top in one of the Mollie Makes issues. It looked and sounded easy as even I thought of giving it a go. I'll have a look round later and will give you more details once I've found it. X

  8. Hi Marianne, I have just finished the custard shrug (search on ravelry) it is a free pattern based on your measurements not a size guide. Mine has turned out great and used two 100g balls of patons 4 ply cotton. Check it out. Jo x
