Blog Inspiration (and a scarf...)

Reading one of my favourite blogs last week, Primroses & Petticoats and specifically, this post with the gorgeous CK inspired blanket, I found that I really, really wanted to make something in similar colours. I decided against a blanket as I already have two in progress, and so opted for a scarf.

I searched around the internet for a pattern, and came across this gorgeous CK inspired cowl from the beautiful Inverleith blog. The moment, I saw this, I just loved it. I bought the yarn the next day and had made my scarf within a few days. I decided to make mine a scarf rather than a cowl, so instead of sewing up the end pieces, I added more trebles in red along each end...

I really, really love it...you may be able to tell that from all the photos?!

I used Sirdar Snuggly yarn for this, the colours were perfect and it really is very soft and snuggly. There is lots of yarn left, enough for at least one more scarf, maybe even two. My mum really liked it so I am going to make one for her and I also think that a nice, bright CK scarf would make a lovely Christmas gift for the females on my gift list...

Happy weekend everyone!

Bloomin' Crochet-A-Long!

Welcome to the Bloomin' Crochet-A-Long with Chrissie Crafts and me! You can read all about the inspiration behind this here and here...

Chrissie and I have both decided to work on the beautiful Hexagon Flower Throw on pages 53-55 of Cute & Easy Crochet With Flowers...

As you can see, I have only made one hexagon so far...only 113 more to go!

However, if you want to join in, please feel free to work on ANY crochet project you wish. It is a good opportunity to finish off some WIPS, but if you fancy doing a new and quick little project, do pop over to Chrissie's blog where she shares a gorgeous little pattern from the book.

We are planning to post each Thursday with our progress. It would be lovely if some of you would join us and also share what you have been crocheting, however often you want.

I am making this throw for Miss M's room as she has informed she would like some more blankets because she is now collecting them?! I am using all yarn from my stash to begin with...

So I have my tea and cinnamon bun ready - always lovely companions to a morning of crochet - and am planning to work up a few more of these little hexagons.

These lovely ladies are also joining in with some gorgeous crochet...

Cosmos and Cotton

Primroses and Petticoats

The Summerhouse by the Sea

Sweetpea Family

Crafty Fat Cat

Chalky's World

Snap That

Happy crocheting....

Feeling Floral

It has been a floral sort of week - for my clothes and my crafts...

The weather has been so lovely - mild and sunny - and I have enjoyed wearing my flowery pumps and scarf...

I am quite in love with my new floral top...

I am still addicted to making these crochet flowers. I have whipped up quite a few of them with brooch pins attached...they are popular among my friends and family!

I actually did a little crafty swap with a friend from work. I made a couple of the flowery brooches above for her in her favourite colours, and she made me this gorgeous little floral teacup candle. It is so pretty, I really love it...

I also made a floral garland for the living room this week. I chose colours to match the curtains and I plan to hang it around the mirror. Well, I will get G to do this when he gets home later as even with ladders, I am still too short to reach properly. Bet he can't wait to do this little job!

Of course, there have been actual flowers too...

A bright and cheerful bunch on the kitchen table...

Chrysanthemums at the living room window...

Buttercups collected by my sweet Miss M during a lovely walk yesterday...

Hope you are all having a good weekend? It is another gorgeous sunny day here, so Miss M and I are planning another long walk as she wants to make an autumn collage today! So I am looking forward to spending some time together doing this.

Also thank you for the interest shown, as well as the lovely comments, on our crochet-a-long. I am so looking forward to starting it...

Crochet-a-long

After both receiving copies of Nicki Trench's gorgeous new book, Cute & Easy Crochet with Flowers, lovely Chrissie of Chrissie Crafts and I decided to organise a little crochet-a-long. As the nights are starting to draw in, it seems the perfect time to cosy up with a new crochet project or to finish off a work in progress, and then share what we have all been doing on our blogs...

This book is just lovely and it has been really difficult to chose a project, but Chrissie and I have both decided to do the hexagon throw. However, there are lots of smaller projects too and Chrissie has more exciting news about this and a giveaway too, do visit her blog here for more details...

I know a few of you have the book already and Claire has already completed a gorgeous little project from it here.

It would be fabulous if some of our bloggy friends would join us in our little crochet-a-long! There is a little button, designed by Chrissie, which you can add to your blog if you wish to join in. We aim to start next week, at the beginning of the month. Exciting stuff...

The Weekend

This September weekend has been a nice one for us, fairly quiet, but good all the same.

It was a lovely day today so Miss M and I went for a long walk...well I walked, she mainly hopped, skipped and ran...

We picked a little posy of wild flowers to bring home...

We came across some bramble bushes and picked a few of the best ones, not too many, just enough to make an apple and bramble crumble during the week...

I discovered the wonders of washi tape...I love this stuff! I used a little to decorate some candles and tea lights I had bought at a trip to Ikea during the week. I have a couple of them burning at the moment and they are making the house smell so lovely. I adore vanilla candles...

Miss M and I did some simple baking on Saturday morning. We made lemon drizzle cake which is a firm favourite in this house. It has been very much enjoyed with a hot cup of tea or two..

Inspired by lovely Hannapat from the gorgeous Cosmos and Cotton blog, I cut the last of the summer lavender from the garden and have brought it inside to dry. Tied in a pretty bunch of course...

Hope you have all had a nice weekend too? Thank you for the lovely, lovely comments recently, I enjoy reading them so much.

Craft Organisation

I had some annual leave from work last week and on my 'to-do' list was sorting out my craft supplies. So a couple of hours was spent tidying and sorting...

And it all looks so much better! This was a job that I had been putting off to be honest, but when I started I found that I was actually enjoying it...especially as I discovered quite a few things I had forgotten I had. I really must find a use for all that fabric...maybe quilting could be a new interest? As if I need any more crafty hobbies!

Notice there is only 2 balls of yarn there? Well organising the yarn stash is something I am yet to do! I suppose that will be a whole other post...

Sweetheart Flower Brooch

I made this little brooch yesterday, and I have to say, I am really happy with it! It's perfect for brightening up a plain cardigan...

I made five of these simple little hearts in DK cotton using a 4mm crochet hook. I then sewed them all onto a double circle of felt, embellished the hearts with pretty polka dot buttons and attached a brooch pin to the back.

I think this would also work making the hearts all the same colour and using coordinating buttons - I'm thinking red hearts with red and white polka dot buttons...

The possibilities for using these little hearts seem endless! I have already used them in a couple of little projects here and here and I am very grateful to Cornflower Blue for the pattern.

Welcome to my new readers and thank you to everyone who visits me here! And also, a big thank you for the lovely comments you leave me, they are always read and always appreciated.
