I am still stash busting at the moment before I allow myself to buy any new yarn, although I have to admit the temptation to do so is very strong!
Anyway, I made these little egg cosies with really small amounts of leftover Stylecraft DK in the following colours: cream (1005), fondant (1241), spring green (1316), apricot (1026), lemon (1020) and sherbet (1034). The pattern is from Nicki Trench's Cute & Easy Crochet - I seem to be working my way through this book! These were a very quick and simple little make and I so enjoyed crocheting them. I used a little Cath Kidston ribbon which my mum and dad gave me for my birthday which I think just finishes these little cosies off nicely.
So the stash busting continues! I had been making a granny stripe tea cosy but couldn't get it to work out at all - I made one side and it was truly enormous! Not sure what I did wrong there! So I have unravelled it all and am now making some little granny squares and also working on a teeny (and fiddly) little knitting project to use up some more of my yarn stash...
A very happy weekend to you all!
X

ReplyDeleteLovely little projects. I always try to use up before I buy more but it is hard sometimes if there is a sale on! Jo x
ReplyDeleteThese put a HUGE smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteI just learned to crochet this past week and I want to run out and buy every color of yarn out there, so I know what you mean! But I'm still just learning so I'm containing myself!
These are just too cute!
Have a great rest of your weekend,
Tammy
Hi Ladybird aren't these just adorable, the colours are to die for and the ribbon just sets them off perfectly. These would make such a lovely present for a family all gift wrapped in a dinky little box. A great post, thanks as you have given me some ideas of how I can get rid of some of my stash. My husband was complaining tonight about always finding yarn, fabric, books, needles and hooks all over the house! I must admit that I had to hang my head in shame as he is right. I made myself a promise earlier this year not to buy any more yarn - have stuck to it so far but not done much knitting or crochet! You have inspired me Ladybird, thank you so much
ReplyDeleteLots of love

ReplyDeleteThey're just adorable! I love watching people stash-bust; the most interesting things seem to result from it. :)

ReplyDeleteYour egg cosies are so cute! Such a good idea to use up yarn. I think I better take a leaf out your book and start using up my stash before I buy more, the suitcase I keep my yarn in keeps popping open its so full hehe.

They are really lovely - and such gentle colours - I do like the little tags, what a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteGosh, if I stash busted before buying more yarn then I'd have no new yarn for a long long time, M! I really admire your resolve! I know I SHOULD though!
Have a lovely week!
