I have been enjoying making some pretty crochet flowers over the past couple of days...
Pretty pastels...
I made a few slightly smaller flowers as brooches for Miss M. The one above looks sweet pinned on her little cardigan...
A bright greeny blue. My mum had given me the yarn she had leftover from knitting my scarf so I used it to make this flower brooch for her...
The bright red flower brooch above is for a very good friend...
The pattern for these flowers can be found in Nicki Trench's book Cute & Easy Crochet. I think they look best when worked in a cotton yarn and with a little brooch pin attached they make nice little gifts. They are also very addictive to make and I so enjoyed making them all! I was very happy to read that Nicki Trench has a new book due to be published later in the year called Cute & Easy Crochet With Flowers. There are some details here. I have loved her other books so I'm very much anticipating this new one.
I did lots of knitting at the weekend for the ice cream blanket so I'm having a little break from it just now and have turned my attention to crochet at the moment. Back soon with another little crochet project...

I love your little flowers and Cute & Easy Crochet is my most-used book! I made a bunch of these flowers for her tea cosy, which I gave to my grandma for her birthday. She loved it! Can't wait to see what else you have on the hook... Cx

ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty and I'm really excited now about Nikki's new book - the front cover looks like it's going to be good. Mind you, I need to finish some of the projects in this one first! x
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely I do love the colours. I used this Cute and easy crochet pattern to make brooches from the spare flowers left over from my crocheted a springtime flower wreath. I've got a couple more Rose brooches to make later this week to finish off some birthday gifts. xx

They look really cute. I love the colours you've used. I am longing to learn to crochet. I tried following some tutorials on you tube but still haven't got it. Must give it another go or find someone who can show me. I'm longing to join the 'crochet club'. fiona x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers in beautiful colours - it's so nice to 'ring the changes' isn't it, then we can pick up the blankety projects again with renewed interest. I do the same - there's a sock on the go (knitting), as well as a ripple blanket and now new squares in different colours again - not to mention a few projects 'hidden away' momentarily! Have fun with it all and I'm looking forward to seeing your ice-cream blanket update. Joy x
