This and that

Yesterday morning was spent doing some cooking as again it was a really cold, wet day so the kitchen seemed like the best place to be. I made turkey meatballs from Nigella Lawson's book Kitchen. I make these quite often as Miss M just adores them. They also make the house smell wonderful like an Italian kitchen. I then made some little lemony puddings ( I don't know quite what to call them - syllabub? posset?). The recipe came from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's Hugh's 3 Good Things which G was given for Christmas. The puddings are basically just lemons, condensed milk and double cream, really simple to make but taste delicious. I made 4 wee glasses but G ate one before I had a chance to photograph them all together. I will definitely make these again, especially if we have people round for dinner.

I made Miss M a little red beret from this pattern and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It only took 2 nights to knit up and was a really simple pattern to follow although the entire time I was knitting this I had the Prince song Raspberry Beret in my head! Not a bad thing really...! Anyway Miss M seems to like it as she wanted to wear it to school this morning which made me very happy.

I had a nice little wander around the local charity shops this morning and got this sweet little jug. I also bought a lovely cheery bunch of yellow roses and they are brightening up the house nicely. There is sunshine here today and the first sign of snowdrops, it seems that spring is definitely on its way...

  4. Those meatballs look wonderful, just perfect for a cosy winter meal. We often make lemon possets (just lemon, cream and sugar) when we have people round for dinner as they are so easy but taste amazing.

I love the red beret - it's very sweet.

  5. More charity shop envy from me! A lady at our quilt group always makes lemon posset for our summer and Christmas party, by very popular request - we complained very strongly the year she dared to make something different! Loving the glimpse of 'our' jug too :-)
