Addicted to crochet...

After all the sewing I've been doing over the past few weeks, I needed a little break from it and have now turned my attention to crochet. I learned to crochet last year (after my friend and I spent an afternoon watching tutorials on you-tube) and although it's taken me quite a while to get the hang of it and I am still very much a beginner, I'm enjoying it so much.

Browsing my crochet books for inspiration...

Continuing with my granny square cushion by making lots of little squares in pretty colours (pattern for these is for the Springtime throw in Cute and Easy Crochet by Nicki Trench).

A new book bought in TK Maxx yesterday. It's aimed at children but I think it's perfect before a beginner like me. The techniques used are really clearly explained and there are lots of pictures at the beginning of he book showing this. Also the pictures are gorgeous and projects are just lovely, here are a few that I am planning to make in the near future:

Rag dolly, Miss M loves this.

Colourful jar covers.

Beanie hat. I think this is so sweet and it looks really simple to make.

A giant granny square blanket in the same colours as the little squares for my cushion. I am so enjoying making this blanket, it's very therapeutic to work round after round and even though G has said a few times "For goodness sake, how big is that blanket going to be?!", I plan to work on it it for a while yet until it's a good snuggly size. The yarn I'm using for both is Stylecraft Special DK - I love this yarn, such a fantastic selection of colours and the price is hard to beat.

So that's my little crochet round up done! Thank you for all the lovely, lovely comments on my cushions, I do so appreciate them all and also hello to my new readers and followers. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, I'll be back really soon...

Xxxx

  1. Crochet will keep you hooked - I love it. I made lots of jam jar covers for my daughters wedding, some were knitted but then I crochet lots as they were much quicker to make.

  2. My Grandma and my Mum taught me to crochet when I was very young but I only remember how to start off now. I really have issues with holding the yarn too.

You have made some gorgeous things so far and the book is a brilliant find, you'll have such fun!

I adore the colours of your huge Granny square blanket.

  7. I love the jar covers, and they would be a perfect way of getting rid of the little left over balls of wool. The cushions on your previous post were fantastic, you have inspired me to have a go. Take care. Chel
